Thailand: Nikon (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
Occupational safety management based on OHSAS 18001
Nikon Thailand has defined and authorized the organization's Occupational Health and Safety policy to ensure a comfortable and safe work environment by eliminating risks to employees. It also extends to promoting Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems to our suppliers' workplaces within our supply chain factories.
The management extends to non-routine situations; during the flood recovery period, Nikon Thailand undertook post-disaster cleaning and disinfecting operations together with a specialized vendor company. Risk analysis and assessments were first undertaken, and safety PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) such as goggles, gloves, waterproof suits and rubber boots were provided to ensure the safety and health of employees during the cleaning and disinfecting of fungi, bacteria and microbes from inside the factories.
The company monitors the safety environment for its employees inside factories, and measures employees' health by annual health checkups. The aim of this is to make sure that employees produce the best quality products in a working environment that puts safety first.
In February 2012, Nikon Thailand held a fire drill in order to ensure the readiness of our emergency response systems. Around 3,000 employees from both the day and night shifts joined in the drill.
