Project F.L.A.S.H., an initiative that contributes to the local community

In 2011, Nikon Inc. launched a social contribution program entitled Project F.L.A.S.H. (Families Lending Advice, Support and Hope). This is one of the company's CSR programs which aim to improve the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as the local community and society at large. It uses the power of imagery and photography to connect and engage with employees, customers and the community and to make a meaningful, positive contribution to the Project's partners and their clientele.

One of the partners is Sunrise Day Camp, an institution which invites children with cancer and their siblings to the camp at no cost. Nikon Inc. sponsored a "Walkathon" event in 2011; employees and their families participated in the charity walk in teams, which resulted in the raising of over $20,000 as well as promoting awareness of the camp to the public. Also, "Camp Clean-Up" was very popular among employees as many of them came to participate in the maintenance of camp facilities such as repainting, and cleaning up of the premises. In addition to these activities, in 2012, photo classes are held for children to heighten their interest in photography while using cameras to express their feelings.

Another partner is Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. It provides a program called "home-away-from-home" for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. The House is built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child - not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will sleep at night. Nikon Inc.'s employees visit the House and prepare meals.
Nikon Inc.'s endeavors proceed in the belief that when you change a child's life, you change their family's life, and this can change a community.
