Imaging Software NIS-Elements
Scan Large Images with Macro Image
A large image-acquisition area can be specified on a low-magnification image. Furthermore, when using NIS-Elements with the Ni-E microscope and the DS-L3, the image-acquisition area can be easily specified with the image-capture button on the Ni-E while the image is being observed through the Ni-E’s eyepieces or viewed as a low-magnification image on the DS-L3 screen. Autofocus Setup – Continuous in Range
The new function “Continuous in Range” has been added as an autofocus system (AF hereinafter). “Continuous in Range” selects the best focus surface using acquired live images while at the same time adjusting the Z drive. Different from the conventional system “Steps in Range,” “Continuous in Range” allows AF at the same frame rate as the Live mode. (NIS-Elements AR/BR/D)
Cell Proliferation/Wound Healing/Cell Count/Cell Motility (Option)
Enables quantitative live-cell analysis utilizing non-invasive label-free phase contrast images, in turn reducing damage to live cells and allowing for long-term time-lapse imaging (NIS-Elements AR)
CQ Cell Proliferation
Automatically detects cell area coverage. This allows for the quantification of cell proliferation and the generation of growth curves over time. Label-free phase contrast image analysis enables long-term, noninvasive monitoring of cells.
CQ Wound Healing
Automatically detects and measures wound areas for scratch assays. As cells invade wound areas over time, comparisons can be made to determine “healing” effects.
CQ Cell Count
Automatically detects and quantifies the number and size of individual cells. Phase contrast imaging is non-invasive because the use of potentially harmful fluorescence fluorphores is not required.
CQ Cell Motility
Automatically detects cell centroids and continuously tracks their movements, generating velocity, length of trajectory and persistence calculations. This software module can be used to evaluate cell motility under various conditions, such as drug treatment.
Supporting Ti-Recipe
Ti-Recipe supports the combination of DS-L3 and a Nikon mono/color camera. (NIS-Elements AR/BR)
Deconvolution – Landweber Method (Option)
Landweber method deconvolution has been added for 3D deconvolution, not only for 2D deconvolution. It is faster than both blind and non-blind methods, and achieves excellent results. (NIS-Elements AR)
Offset Search Function (Find Offset)
Using the Find Offset function, PFS offset can be automatically set while retaining focus after PFS is activated. To execute this function, adjust the focus while PFS is off, and then click the button beside the PFS Offset text box on the Ti Pad.
Improvements of Ni-E Configuration
In addition to the motorized control speed setting, the motorized stage’s XY range and maximum Z focus can be set using this function. (NIS-Elements AR/BR/D)
Ti Configuration Improvements
The following functions have been added to and improvements made to the Ti Configuration dialog box.
- Addition of XY Software Limits setting
- Addition of Z Software Limits setting
- Addition of Filter Turret Torque setting
- Addition of Keep Z position checkbox
- Layout change to XYZ Speed/Accuracy settings
