Hiroshi Ohki, General Manager of Research & Development Headquarters, Core Technology Center
In 1979, Hiroshi Ohki joined Nikon and was assigned to the Optical Department that existed at the time. Ever since, he’s been dedicated to the development of Nikon’s technologies and products in the fields of imaging optics, image processing and optical design. In 1990, he acquired a doctorate of engineering at the University of Tokyo, with his doctoral thesis, Advanced theory of vector diffraction and its application to magneto-optical disk systems. As of September 2010, he is an operating officer, and general manager of Research and Development Headquarters, Core Technology Center, in charge of the management of R&D operations at Nikon Corporation. He is also a project professor at the Nikon Chair of Optical Engineering*, Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, providing lectures for postgraduate students. In 2010, he was awarded a fellowship by the Japan Society of Applied Physics. He has co-authored the book Diffraction and imaging optics (Publisher: Asakura Publishing Co., Ltd.) with Masato Shibuya, ex-Nikon engineer, and professor of Tokyo Polytechnic University.
