Introduction to Digiscoping
STEP.2 Getting started with digiscoping Part 1: Equipment
Vibration-reduction measures

Even the slightest vibration can greatly affect the results of super-telephoto shooting. A stable tripod and camera platform designed to stabilize your equipment are indispensable.
While there is no way to avoid vibrations when following a moving subject, using the right equipment can ensure you avoid vibrations caused by the equipment itself. Using the camera's continuous capture mode and taking as many pictures as possible in a variety of shooting situations will help you to successfully capture images of moving subjects.

Preventing equipment vibration

Cable release
Pressing the shutter release button directly with your finger can cause the equipment to vibrate. Use a cable release to gently release the shutter and prevent equipment vibration.
We recommend that you use the Fieldscope Digital Camera Bracket FSB series and fitting.
Tripod
Choose a stable tripod to stabilize your equipment. Because you won't need to replace it frequently, choose a solidly built tripod to prevent your equipment from falling. In unbalanced situations, you cannot concentrate on shooting. A bigger tripod is not always better, as mobility is also an important factor.
Aluminum tripods are heavier than carbon fiber models. Before making your purchase, ask others for advice and test out the weight in the store.
Camera platform
Using a video camera platform allows you to secure the equipment easily without changing the position of the screen. This makes stable framing possible. Fine-positioning adjustment is also easy after setting up a desired composition.
Video camera platforms move smoothly and are locked by simply removing your hand, making them suitable for digiscoping. A tripod with a built-in balance plate allows adjustments for unbalanced equipment. (The balance plate shifts the biased center of balance to the center of the camera platform, making framing easier.)
A variety of camera platforms is available. Choose the model that best suits you in terms of ease of use, its ability to withstand loads, smooth movement, weight, additional functions and price.
(The load capacity of the camera platform must be much greater than the total weight of the equipment.)
Note: Video tripods, video camera platforms and balance plates are not available from Nikon.
