Nikon Plaza Sendai
Nikon Imaging Japan Inc. opened the Nikon Plaza Sendai so that it might serve as a base station for reconstruction support.
The Nikon Plaza Sendai is a complex facility. It provides a community space at no cost to NPOs or volunteer groups so that they may utilize the space for activities in aid of the reconstruction. The community space is also host to a variety of local cultural activities. The photo gallery is likewise provided at no cost to amateur photographers and photographic groups so that photographic exhibitions may conveniently be held. Provision is also made at the facility's service center for a repair and maintenance service for imaging-related devices.
Nikon Group employees utilize the Nikon Plaza Sendai as a base for volunteer activities.

Exhibition of Photo Book Project for Junior High School Students was Held
Photo books were completed for the project that ran during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013. To mark the occasion, Nikon held a panel exhibition titled "Messages from Junior High School Students in Miyagi" at the community space within Nikon Plaza Sendai to showcase the students' messages and to provide many with an opportunity to share in the feelings of the students.
16 project-participating junior high schools in Miyagi exhibited their works at the exhibition. (The exhibition was held from March to April 2013)
Joint Exhibition for Reconstruction was Held by Three Schools
A joint exhibition for reconstruction was held by Shichigou Junior High School, Shichigou Elementary School and Arahama Elementary School at the community space within Nikon Plaza Sendai.
These three schools were designated as model schools for education of disaster prevention. They cooperated to create a pocket guide for damage control, working actively for education of disaster prevention.
Photos and wall newspapers showing their activities were exhibited. A diorama showing an image of the reconstructed Shichigou area was also exhibited. (This article was written in January 2013)
Panel Exhibition Was Held on the Second Floor of the AER Building
During the Sendai Tanabata Festival, Nikon held a panel exhibition on the second floor of the AER building, hoping that more people would become familiar with Nikon Plaza Sendai. The panel exhibition displayed works of the Photo Book Project by Junior High School Students and those of the International Children's Painting Competition on the Environment, expressing children's feelings. In addition, Nikon exhibited the original pictures of an environmental poster drawn by children at the community space in Nikon Plaza Sendai. Many people visited the exhibitions. Railway Photographer Mr. Seiya Nakai Held a Photo Exhibition.
Railway photographer Mr. Seiya Nakai held a photo exhibition titled "Hasire, Santetsu (Run! Sanriku Railway Train!)".at the community space in Nikon Plaza Sendai.
Mr. Nakai took pictures of everything related to railways, showing that railway photography was not limited to the photos of only train cars. He explored a new genre of railway photography. The exhibited pictures depicted the reconstruction of the Sanriku Railway, which had been severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. During the same period, Mr. Nakai also held a photo exhibition called "Dream Train" at the Photo Gallery. This consisted of photos of people whom Mr. Nakai met during his railroad travels throughout Japan. He photographed them while they spoke to him of their dreams.(The exhibition was held in July 2012.)
Panel Exhibition of Photo Book Project for Junior High School Students
For the project that ran during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012, photo books were completed. To mark the occasion, Nikon held a panel exhibition at the community space within the Nikon Plaza Sendai to showcase the students' endeavors. Within one month, photos were put on display—firstly, those from Kamaishi Toni Junior High School, then those from Ofunato Daiichi and Kamaishi Higashi Junior High Schools respectively. Teachers and students from the participating schools, as well as many other people, visited the exhibition. (The exhibition was held from March to April in 2012.)
