Basic Information about Binoculars Eye relief

Eye relief is the distance from the outer surface of the eyepiece lens to the position where the exit pupil is formed (eyepoint).
Looking through binoculars from the eyepoint, you can obtain the whole field of view without vignetting.
It is recommended for eyeglass wearers to use binoculars with a longer eye relief (high eyepoint).

Eye relief

For eyeglass wearers

Long-eye-relief binoculars

If the eye relief is long enough, eyeglass wearers can use binoculars with eyeglasses on, see the field of view without vignetting.

Short-eye-relief binoculars

If the eye relief is too short, you cannot place your eye on the eyepoint, so vignetting may occur in the field of view.
