TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the 1 NIKKOR VR 6.7-13mm f/3.5-5.6 and the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4-5.6, two new lenses that will expand the lineup of 1 NIKKOR lenses for Nikon 1, Advanced Cameras with Interchangeable Lenses.
The 1 NIKKOR VR 6.7-13mm f/3.5-5.6 is an ultra wide-angle zoom lens that offers a 100° angle of view, and the 6.7-13mm range of focal lengths (equivalent to 18-35mm in 35-mm [135] format). The lens has the widest angle of view among 1 NIKKOR lenses, allowing users to capture wide angle images that emphasize scale through distant landscapes, as well as being able to get up close to subjects in tight areas while still being able to capture a wide surrounding area. The 1 NIKKOR VR 6.7 -13mm f/3.5-5.6 also offers detailed and sharp rendering through high resolution, making it ideal for dynamic artistic expressions of everyday scenes, buildings and landscapes. Even equipped with a vibration reduction mechanism (VR), the lens is designed to be compact enough to be easily carried around, with a maximum diameter of approximately 56.5 mm, a length of approximately 46 mm*1, and weighing approximately 125 g.
The 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4-5.6 is a 10x zoom lens covering the 10-100mm range of focal lengths (equivalent to 27-270mm in 35-mm [135] format) equipped with a vibration reduction mechanism (VR). Even compared to 5x or greater high-power zoom lenses for digital cameras with interchangeable lenses, the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4-5.6 is not only of the smallest size in its class*2, it also features one of the lightest and compact bodies. Because this single lens covers a broad range of focal lengths, from wide-angle to telephoto, users can capture images of distant subjects and close subjects without changing lenses and without missing a beat. The 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4-5.6 achieves sharp and clear images in a wide variety of scenes, from every day scenes to vacation trips, such as snapshots, portraits, food, and landscapes. The lens is also supplied with the Nikon 1 J3 as a kit lens. It is available in the same 5 colors*3 (white, black, silver, red, beige) as the camera body, and color has been applied to the entire outer surface of the lens barrel for consistent color even when the lens is zoomed out.
- *1Distance from the camera's lens mount flange. With lens retracted.
- *2Among 5x or greater zoom lenses for digital cameras with interchangeable lenses available as of January 8, 2013, based on Nikon research of volume comparison when the lens is retracted.
- *3When purchased separately, only white, silver and black are available.
The 1 NIKKOR, interchangeable lenses for Nikon 1, continues in the tradition of the Nikon F mount, which has a history that goes back more than half a century. 1 NIKKOR lenses employ the new Nikon 1 mount lens mount, and are developed for use with Nikon 1 cameras. 1 NIKKOR lenses are developed using optical technologies Nikon has cultivated over the years with its NIKKOR lenses, and offer the same superior image quality users have come to expect from the Nikon name with recording of not only still images, but movies as well. Offering silent and smooth movement with movie recording for superior focusing precision, the 1 NIKKOR provides an optimal lens system for both still images and movies.
The current 1 NIKKOR lineup consists of six lenses; the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 normal zoom lens; the 1 NIKKOR VR 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6 compact telephoto zoom lens; the 1 NIKKOR 10mm f/2.8 slim wide-angle fixed focal length lens; the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM lens equipped with a power drive mechanism and recommended for movie recording; the 1 NIKKOR 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 2.5x normal zoom lens; and the 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 fixed focal length lens with fast maximum aperture. With the addition of these two new lenses, as well as a high-performance 32mm (equivalent to 86.4 mm in 35-mm [135] format) medium telephoto fixed focal length lens with a fast maximum aperture of f/1.2 currently in development, the total number of available lenses will be nine.
Nikon will continue to develop lenses that make the most of the capabilities and performance offered by the Nikon 1, Advanced Camera with Interchangeable Lenses, which proposes new forms of imaging expression, for positive expansion of the 1 NIKKOR lineup.
