Notice regarding Lawsuit in the U.S.

As per our press release issued on February 3, 2012, a US company, Anvik Corporation (President: Dr. Kanti Jain) filed a lawsuit on September 8, 2005 (US Eastern Daylight Time) in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against: Nikon Corporation (having its principal place of business in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Makoto Kimura); Nikon Precision Inc. which is a 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation (having its principal place of business in Belmont, California, the U.S., President: Takao Naito) and; Nikon Research Corporation of America (having its principal place of business in Belmont, California, the U.S., President: W. Thomas Novak) for the alleged infringement of patents owned by Anvik Corporation pertaining to LCD lithography systems and a jury trial was scheduled to start on May 7, 2012 in the U.S.
On March 30, 2012 (EDT), the District Court granted Nikon’s motion for a summary judgment that Anvik’s asserted patents are invalid.
Accordingly, all Anvik’s claims alleged in this lawsuit are rejected entirely and Nikon has won the case at the district court without a jury trial.
