Product Concept

Nikon has provided the CNC Video Measuring System NEXIV VMR series which have been long appreciated in the fields of high-accurate, fast and full automatic measurements on precision and electronic parts. Exploiting Nikon's superior technology on optical measurement and image processing automatic edge detection/determination on the CCD camera images eliminates operator's subjective errors and enable multiple measurements of complicated profiles.

Together with all the technologies and know-how inherited from NEXIV series, latest image processing transfer technology is reflected on the iNEXIV VMA-2520. In spite of its affordable price, the iNEXIV VMA-2520 offers high-accurate, reliable and user friendly operation. Its space-saving compact design even allows it to be used on the bench top. You will find the iNEXIV VMA-2520 the best among the worldwide affordable machine market with its high performance in accuracy, reliability and operation.

With its 200mm-long Z-stroke (50mm longer than the existing machine), thick work pieces, such as plastic injection molds and mechanical parts, can now be the subject of the automatic measurement with iNEXIV VMA-2520. The iNEXIV VMA-2520 will surely work effective on the inspection of minute and complicated precision parts on incoming or outgoing quality control process.

Features

  1. Long 200mm Z-axis stroke on lightweight, Space-saving body

Though the Z-axis stroke is extended to 200mm from the current 150mm on VMR series, the main body remains compact and space-saving with its minimum height held down to 750mm during transportation. It weighs only 70kg(approx.) due to aluminum alloy structure.

Together with the 250 x 200mm XY strokes which is also the widest among the class, the iNEXIV VMA-2520 can measure even the thick larger work pieces such as mechanical parts, molds and medical devices.

  2. Newly designed zooming optics optimized for three-dimensional parts measurement

The long working distance optics are newly designed for 3D parts measurement covering the lower magnification. The VMA-2520 succeeds renowned optics of the NEXIV series together with the new objectives with Higher NA(0.11) and less distortion error (less than 0.1%). The long working distance of 73.5mm is maintained throughout all the magnification ranges.

The lowest magnification of 0.35x(current:0.5x), widened the Field of View to 13.3 x 10mm enabling easier grasp of the features you want to measure.

The new optics employs Apochromatic lens to compensate for the blue wavelengths of the white LED's ring illumination.

The standard five-step, 10x zoom optical system provides superb resolution at high magnification for high-accurate measurement, and provides a wide field of view at low magnification for teaching and searching.

  3. White LED optics enables faster and highly accurate measurement

The high-intensity white LED features constant color temperature and less flicker, thus providing stable measurement accuracy, particularly when observing color images. With the LED'S quick response to lighting controls, increased measurement throughputs can be achieved. Compared to halogen light, measurement throughputs can become faster because the LED's response to lighting control is quicker. Moreover, electric consumption is lower and the life time(approximately 20,000 hours) is longer.

  4. Laser AF (option) for high-accurate height measurement

As well as the standard Vision AF, fast Laser AF that features a long 63mm working distance can be used as an option. The Laser AF for the VMA-2520 employs a non-contact sensor that uses red semiconductor laser light as a fill light, enables height detection with sub-micrometer resolution. The Laser AF provides fast precise focusing on work piece surfaces regardless of optical magnification, making the height measurement easier.

  5. Frame grabber free

High speed and highly accurate measurement is realized because the VMA-2520 controller has the camera image and its X.Y.Z. coordinate point synchronized. And the frame grabber board is no longer necessary in the PC because the digital video image outputs are transferred to a PC's IEEE1394 port via the controller.

Now no frame grabber board is used. Setting up the system becomes easier and the use of the Lap top PC is possible.
