Nikon India Private Limited Established to Enhance Sales and Service in Fast-growing Indian Market

Nikon Corporation (Michio Kariya, President) is pleased to announce the establishment of Nikon India Private Limited, a wholly owned sales and service subsidiary. This new company was launched to fortify sales of imaging products, beginning with digital cameras, and to enhance after-sales service, as well as technical support and after-sales service of industrial instruments, beginning with CNC Video Measuring System, in India. Operations commenced in August, 2007.
In response to India's recent remarkable economic growth and long-term market potential, companies from throughout the world are working to establish a presence in this positive market. As the household appliance and cellular telephone markets have already shown rapid expansion, we expect the digital camera market to show similar expansion within the next few years. Previously, our local affiliate, Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd, had performed marketing and sales operations for India. However, with the rapid expansion of the Indian market, Nikon determined that a more localized organizational structure for sales and service was necessary to expand operations in this growing market. Therefore, we established this new wholly owned subsidiary.
Our primary goals in establishing this local affiliate are to strengthen and expand our presence in the Indian market and to improve customer service with a system integrating all aspects of our business in India, from marketing to sales, customer support, and after-sales service. In addition, we believe that strategic marketing and effective advertising will lead to increased sales and greater permeation of the Nikon brand, further increasing Nikon's presence in India.
Furthermore, all marketing and order acceptance activities related to our imaging operations for the Middle East previously carried out by Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd was transferred to this new subsidiary. This will allow us to greatly fortify our business structure in the Middle East.
