Nikon Introduces TRAVELITE EX Series Binoculars
November 25, 2005
Nikon Vision Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, is introducing the new TRAVELITE EX series of light, compact, waterproof binoculars, including four models: 8x25CF TRAVELITE EX, 9x25CF TRAVELITE EX, 10x25CF TRAVELITE EX and 12x25CF TRAVELITE EX.
The TRAVELITE V series compact binoculars currently also on the market have enjoyed excellent reputations for Nikon aspherical lenses employed in the eyepieces and the sharp views that they offer.
The new TRAVELITE EX series binoculars' waterproof construction makes them especially practical for outdoor use. Their bodies contain nitrogen gas filling to prevent occurrence of fog and mold inside the optical system, even when subjected to sudden rain or splashing. The aspherical lens used in the eyepiece reduces distortion out to the periphery to keep images sharp. For superior ease of use, long eyerelief*1 design provides a wide field of view for eyeglass wearers, and turn-and-slide eyecups make it simple to position eyes at the correct eyepoint.
Compact dimensions and light weight make these models portable enough to take along for any outdoor activities.
The TRAVELITE EX series earned the Good Design Award*2 2005.
- *1Eyerelief: the distance between the eyepiece and the eyepoint from which you can see the whole field of view without any shading.
- *2Granted by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO), the Good Design Award applies Japan's only comprehensive design evaluation and commendation system, which originated in 1957 as the Good Design Selection System (generally known as the G-Mark System) under the auspices of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
