Introducing Nikon Spotter XL II
-- a compact, lightweight spotting scope for bird watching

August 22, 2003

Nikon Vision Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, is proud to announce the compact, lightweight Nikon Spotting Scope Spotter XL II, a highly portable scope that makes it easier than ever to enjoy bird watching.

Development background

Nikon Fieldscopes boast a long and solid reputation as the premier instruments for observing birds over great distances, such as lakes, tidal flats and plains.
Our new Spotter XL II is a general-use model in the Nikon Fieldscope line. A 16-48x magnification zoom eyepiece has enabled us to make this spotting scope particularly compact and lightweight. To increase light penetration and ensure a brighter, clearer view, all lenses and the prism have been multilayer coated, and the prism also offers phase-correction-coating. Rugged waterproofing and a shock-resistant, rubber-armoured body make it a remarkably durable scope under even the most challenging conditions.
This is an entry-level Nikon Fieldscope model, designed to enhance the nature watching experience, including birdwatching.

  • Waterproof (up to 2m/6.6 ft. for 5 minutes) and fog-free with nitrogen gas
  • Phase-correction-coated roof prism for superior resolution
  • All lenses and prisms are multilayer coated for brighter images
  • Long eye relief (19mm)

  • Peep sight on the hood
