Nikon introduces the LASER 500G - a portable laser rangefinder that offers golfers easy, high-accuracy measurements
November 7, 2003
Nikon Vision Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, is proud to announce the release of our new LASER 500G, which makes quick, high-accuracy measurements as easy as aiming at your target and pressing the button. It is especially well suited for measuring the distance to the pin on golf greens.
Development background
The portable laser rangefinder emits an infrared laser to the target, instantly measuring the viewer-to-target distance based on the time of the infrared laser reflection.
Nikon Vision has released several other rangefinders - the LASER 800, which measures up to 800m/879 yd.; the LASER 600, which measures up to 546m/600 yd.; and the LASER 400, which measures up to 400m/437 yd. - garnering the highest acclaim for both outdoor recreation, including hunting, golfing, marine and other sports, as well as simple construction and civil engineering surveys.
The golf market, in particular, has been demanding a rangefinder that enables quick and easy measurements of the distance to the pin on greens. In response to such requests, Nikon Vision has developed the LASER 500G, featuring the innovative First Target Priority function*.
Nikon Vision responds to diverse user needs with laser rangefinders offering a variety of measurement ranges and functions.
- *This function selects from multiple results obtained with a single measurement to display the range to the nearest target - such as when measuring the distance to the pin on a green with woods in the background.
