Nikon Vision Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, will soon release two new Nikon Fieldscopes featuring waterproof construction and a large-diameter design for a brighter image - the straight-body ED82, and the angled-body ED82 A.

Development background

Nikon's conventional Fieldscope III Series (with 60mm objective lens) and ED78 Series (with 78mm objective lens) have long enjoyed a solid reputation. Ideal for viewing across lakes, tidal flats, plains and other distances, the Nikon Fieldscope line now makes observing birds, stars and everything else even more fun.
Our new Fieldscope ED82 and ED82 A, successors to the ED78 Series, have been designed to meet the growing demand for large-diameter waterproof Fieldscopes for outdoor use. The bodies are filled with nitrogen gas, and feature waterproof construction to prevent fogging or mold on internal optics, even if the Fieldscopes are exposed to rain, mist or other moisture. The objective lens diameter has increased to 82mm, and all lens, prism and protective glass surfaces have multilayer coatings to assure superior image brightness. A pair of ED-glass objective lenses compensate for chromatic aberration and enhance image clarity. Together, these qualities enable closer, better views, and make Nikon Fieldscopes the outstanding choice for professional bird-watching and other telescopic observations.

Nikon will also release new 20-60x/25-75x MC II zoom eyepieces concurrently with the ED82 and ED82 A Fieldscopes.

Nikon Fieldscope ED82/ED82 A Features

  • Large 82mm objective lens for the brightest possible images
  • Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass for chromatic aberration compensation and brighter, clearer viewing
  • All lenses and prisms are multilayer-coated to provide brighter images
  • Nitrogen gas-filled body with O-ring seals for waterproof (up to 2m/6.6 ft. for 5 minutes), fog-free performance
  • Built-in slide hood
  • Easy-to-use peep sight on the hood
  • Angled body for easy viewing and comfortable sketching (ED82 A)
  • All lenses use lead-free, arsenic-free Nikon Eco-glass
  • Compatible with eight different eyepieces (optional)
