SUPER COOLSCAN 8000 ED wins TIPA category for "Best Scanner in Europe 2002-2003"

July 26, 2002

TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce that the SUPER COOLSCAN 8000 ED has been declared winner under the category "Best Scanner in Europe 2002-2003" by TIPA.

Founded in 1991 in Paris, TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) is a non-profit, independent professional organisation open to all European magazines within the photo and imaging publishing industry. TIPA member editors from 32 leading European magazines in 14 countries vote for the TIPA "Best in Europe" prize in each product category and give awards annually for the best photographic and imaging products of the year.

According to the official TIPA announcement, "The Nikon SUPER COOLSCAN 8000 ED sets a new standard for desktop scanning of film up to 6x9 cm. It produces scans with excellent detail and sharpness, thanks to its 42-bit colour depth and 4000 dpi optical resolution. The introduction of Digital ICE™ in a medium format film scanner greatly reduces retouching time after scanning, thereby speeding up the scan process considerably."

Last year (TIPA 2001-2002) Nikon was awarded the double accolade of "TIPA Best Digital SLR System Camera in Europe 2001-2002" for the D1x and "TIPA Best Scanner in Europe 2001-2002" for the Nikon SUPER COOLSCAN 4000 ED. This year, Nikon marks its second, consecutive victory in the TIPA Awards Scanner category.
