For Nikon COOLPIX 2000 digital camera owners

It has come to our attention that with certain models of the Nikon COOLPIX 2000 digital camera, excessive heat may be generated when batteries are installed. This is due to defective parts, and in extreme cases the heat may alter the shape of the battery chamber cover.
We offer our sincerest apologies for this inconvenience, and in response, Nikon will gladly replace the referenced models with new ones.
Please understand that Nikon is making every effort to improve product quality and eliminate this sort of problem, and we appreciate your continued support.

Models other than those indicated above are not affected and can be used without concern. - If you own a Nikon COOLPIX 2000 with one of the serial numbers referenced above, remove the batteries (if installed) and contact your nearest Nikon Distributor or Nikon Service facility.
