August 2001
TOKYO -- Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce that its Nikon SUPER COOLSCAN 4000 ED has been declared "Best Film Scanner in Europe 2001-2002" by TIPA.
Founded in 1991 in Paris, TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) is an independent non-profit professional organisation open to all European magazines in the photo and video publishing industry. The TIPA editors base their judgements on quality, performance and value criteria that are essential to the end user. Each year, editors and technical editors from 30 leading European magazines make their selections for the TIPA "Best European" prize in each category.
In its official statement, TIPA said "Nikon's SUPER COOLSCAN 4000 ED proves to be a superior quality scanner that enables 35mm film scanning at true 4000 dpi optical resolution. Its 14-bit A/D conversion input and16-bit output deliver accurate colour reproduction. And it offers high speed at 4000 dpi. The scanner contains a newly developed custom CCD, a new setup function for auto correction of tone and colour, and proprietary LED illumination. Also employed is a technologically advanced Nikkor ED lens incorporating ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements that reduce chromatic aberration. A very good product with excellent performance for the price."
