The Nikon Group, led by Nikon UK Limited, is one of the major sponsors for the 130th Open Championship (July 19 to 22, 2001)

Nikon Corporation (President - YOSHIDA, Shoichiro) is one of the major sponsors of the 130th Open Championship, primarily through its subsidiary in the United Kingdom, Nikon UK Limited (Managing Director - MASAI, Toshiyuki ).

This year, The Open Championship (http://www.opengolf.com) will take place at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, England from July 19 to 22, and will be attended by the creme of the world's golfers.

The Nikon Group, led by Nikon UK Limited, has been a sponsor of The Open since 1993, supplying cameras and binoculars, as well as digital equipment to the tournament.

Signs bearing the Nikon logo will be erected around the course, and a Nikon Professional Services facility will be situated in the media centre. This will provide a valuable back-up service for the professional photographers covering the event, by carrying out minor repairs, checking and cleaning their cameras and lenses, as well as lending them equipment to supplement their own. In addition, there will be a training facility so that photographers can be fully confident with Nikon's latest digital products.

Nikon will also have a binocular hire and sales unit open to the general public, helping to make sure they get the best views the most exciting golfing event of the year.

Following on from last year's successful collaboration with Open Golf.com, The Open's official website, Nikon will once again be sponsoring "Media World". This popular section of the Open Golf.com website, shows pictures of all participating players throughout the tournament and can be found at (http://www.opengolf.com).

In particular, please check out the photos taken by AllSports team of photographers who have been equipped with Nikon's professional digital camera, the D1X. These images will be captioned "Shot by Nikon D1X".

This prestigious tournament will be broadcast on TV by the BBC (U.K.), ABC(U.S.A.), TV Asahi (Japan), and other broadcasting companies.
