TOKYO SKYTREE Multi-Camera Control System—Interview with Masatoki Morito of TOBU TOWER SKYTREE Co., Ltd. and Keiji Kobayashi of NOMURA Co., Ltd.

TOKYO SKYTREE—continuing to grow and develop with the local area

How has TOKYO SKYTREE been doing since its launch?

Morito: Less than three months have passed since TOKYO SKYTREE went into operation (as of Aug. 1, 2012). We are extremely grateful for the fact that over one million people have already visited—much more than we anticipated. The greatest pleasure we derive from our work at TOKYO SKYTREE is seeing the happy faces of visitors at the precise moment that they step out of the elevator onto the observation levels.

Finally, please tell us what the aims of TOKYO SKYTREE are.

Morito: TOKYO SKYTREE aims to become a facility where memories will be made that will be cherished for long after. To this end, we must continue to do whatever we can to help revitalize the local area—together with local residents, who have supported our work thus far.

We do not want visitors to simply come and see TOKYO SKYTREE but skip the surrounding area—we also want them to be exposed to Shitamachi charm here in Sumida and Taito wards. We are going to shine a light on the local district and put on exhibitions and events that will encourage people to get to know it for themselves.

"Please come and see for yourself the best view in the world," says Morito
