Nikon has been a sponsor of Russian ice hockey, one of the country's most popular sports, since 2007.
For the Kontinental Hockey League's 2011–2012 season, which lasts some eight months from September, 2011, the Nikon logo will be displayed on ice rink perimeter signage at 621 regular games and a maximum of 105 playoffs. Nikon will also conduct numerous promotional activities.
The Kontinental Hockey League is a professional hockey league now in its fourth year. In 2008, the Russian league was expanded to include teams from Belarus, Latvia and Kazakhstan, heralding the launch of the Kontinental Hockey League. Considered one of the world's top hockey leagues, it is now popular across Europe.
