Nikon Professional Services (NPS) supports professional photographers in their press activities at sports and cultural events globally, by providing service depots at each venue. Here we highlight NPS activities at the 14th FINA World Championships — Shanghai 2011 held in China, during July 2011, which was cosponsored by Nikon Corporation.
What is Nikon Professional Services (NPS)?
NPS is a membership organization designed to provide services that support professional photographers worldwide who employ Nikon cameras and lenses for their work.
There are NPS desks at Nikon service centers throughout the world. NPS also participates in major events attended by professional photographers and offers cleaning and repair services in Nikon depots on such occasions.
NPS forms a bond that links professional photographers and the Nikon brand.
For such events, Nikon dispatches experienced staff to help photographers who use Nikon products concentrate on their photography with no worries. These occasions are also important for collecting the valuable opinions, or sometimes strict demands, of professionals. This feedback helps enhance the quality of and trust in Nikon products.
Highlights of NPS activities at the 14th FINA World Championships
The 14th FINA World Championships were held in Shanghai, China, during July 2011. There was a great spirit of competitiveness and new sporting records were established. Professional photographers captured many exciting scenes to create a host of memorable images.
For this prestigious competition, Nikon Imaging (China) Sales Co., Ltd. managed operations, building the NPS service depot in the media center of the venue. NPS provided overall support services for professional users, dealing with requests for cleaning or emergency repair of Nikon products, and offering loan equipment services, while explaining how to best use the products loaned.
The Customer Support Department, Imaging Company, Nikon Corporation supervises NPS operations all over the world, and section manager Hidehiko Tanaka attended the competition in Shanghai.
"During the championships, over 100 professional photographers visited our service depot. Among their comments were words of appreciation that we were very happy to hear. Photographers told us how relaxed they were, in the knowledge that any problems could be dealt with by Nikon's service depots at such major events worldwide. Many photographers came to us before the contest began in order to reassure themselves of our service for their cameras and lenses during the competitions.
Nikon will continue providing NPS depots at important sports events such as this, around the globe, so that more professional photographers will come to reap the benefits of worry-free working conditions, for successful results at critical events like these championships."
Nikon will continue to support the reporting of sporting events worldwide
It was in 1964 that Nikon's first service depot was launched in Japan. Nikon's service depot services have expanded over nearly 50 years to cover the entire world. At major sports events in many countries, NPS depot services stand ready to serve professional photographers.
During the history of NPS depot development, there were times when Nikon had various difficult obstacles to overcome. For example, when theft of professionals' equipment happened in certain part of the world, Nikon offered a loan service at service depots. Our clients appreciated this immensely, saying, "We've successfully completed our missions, thanks to Nikon."
Service depot work demands flexible responses to various issues as well as the highest knowledge of technologies. Nikon NPS staff members are all trained experts, with full knowledge of Nikon products, but are also trained to respond helpfully to special requests of professional photographers.
The NPS Service Depot plans to continue supporting press activities at events such as the Championships in Shanghai, thus helping professional photographers deliver their images of the dreams and excitement of sports to the entire world.
